If you are going to make a lasagna sandwich, bring it strong or don’t bring it at all. I like how this article claims it “rivals even the most fattening American treats.” This particular lasagna sandwich has 565 calories and 27g of fat. Seriously? That’s a light snack. Check out the JJ Gargantuan. I love our cousins from across the pond but stick to beer, or at least fish and chips. Leave the gluttony to the experts. In the meantime…

Jeremy’s Grossly Simplified Recipe for a Lasagna Sandwich

Step 1: Make lasagna

Step 2: Make two slices of garlic bread (use Italian bread)

Step 3: Cut a slice of lasagna a little larger than the slices of bread.

Step 4: Assemble sandwich

Step 5: Consume

That could be really delicious…note to self: Make lasagna sandwich sometime very soon.

Call me crazy, but it sure just appears to be three patties (above picture is half of the footlong) poorly arranged on a sub bun. Subway would catch hell for this lack of tessellation. I’m sure Carl’s Sr. is rolling over in his grave, I mean it’s pretty much just an elongated triple cheeseburger. I’m not impressed.

By the way, I’m still waiting for my lifetime supply of free Frosty’s, Wendy’s. It’s an extremely generous offer to save your moribund eatery. And it won’t last forever.

It is quite simple, actually. Order a Baconator and ask for two Spicy Chicken patties as the bun. Assemble, eat and don’t forget to put extra salt on your fries.

Just beef, bacon and cheese between two spicy chicken patties. Glorious. Makes the Double Down look like hospital food.

Any takers?

I was introduced to Dragon 88 years ago by friends. Dragon was a good gathering spot during college and has, to my knowledge, been around for years. Legend has it that the restaurant opened in 1988, which also happens to be the year of the dragon in the Chinese calendar. There used to be a Chinese restaurant called Honolulu in neighboring Westboro, MA. Dragon 88 started when a handful of Honolulu employees decided they wanted to start their own restaurant. They left the Honolulu and started the Dragon.

A Chinese man named Dave (yes, that’s right, Dave) is the owner/bartender and is the creator of the legendary Dragon 88 Mai Tai. This is probably one of the strongest, if not the strongest, alcoholic beverages that you can buy in a bar. A Chinese man by the name of Sanford (yes, Sanford) used to work as the host of Dragon 88 several years ago. One night after consuming several Mai Tais, I asked Sanford “What exactly does Dave put in these things?” His answer: ”Rum, rum, and more rum!”

To gauge the strength of a Dragon 88 Mai Tai requires comparisons to flammable liquids. When the Mai Tai is on the weak side – still about 10x stronger than a normal drink from any other restaurant – one might say it tastes like lighter fluid, with a hint of pineapple. On a night when Dave makes the Mai Tais particularly strong, one might compare it to kerosene, gasoline, or even rubbing alcohol. Of course, this comparison would only occur after wiping away tears, coughing for a few minutes, and then wincing as one tries to formulate a coherent thought. However – the Dragon 88 Mai Tai is a bargain at $5.25. Dangerous.

Traditionally served in a Lowball/Rocks glass with minimal crushed ice, Dragon Mai Tais come garnished with a pineapple/cherry spear, which I find is most helpful for taking your mind off the pain of the drink itself. There are other quality beverages on the menu as well such as the Scorpion Bowl (comes in two sizes- large which serves 2-4 people, and a small which serves one), the Pina Colada, the Zombie, and the Blue Hawaii. All of these drinks are mostly liquor with varying types of juices, guaranteed to leave you with an old fashioned, New England Hangover.

Dragon 88 also serves a nice array of Chinese/Polynesian food. Although the food is fairly standard, greasy Chinese/Polynesian, I will say that it gets exponentially with each Mai Tai consumed. Especially when you order WAY too much food for any small group of human people:

Observe: Poo-poo platter (on fire), wings, Moo-Shoo Pork, 'Chinese Ravioli' - AKA Dumplings, Mongolian Beef

The bottom line is if you are looking for bang-for-the-buck in terms of drinks, and you happen to be in the Worcester County area, you need to make a point to stop by Dragon 88. It is a dive like, hole-in-the-wall type of place, but the staff is always friendly and the drinks are second to none. The food, however, may take years off your life. But honestly, you don’t need those years when you’ve got Mai Tais!

A few days ago, Jeremy wrote about a new McDonalds menu item that has been sweeping the nation. This item is called the Mc10:35, and can only be ordered at 10:35 AM which is the only time you can order simultaneously off of the breakfast and regular menu. The sandwich is a combination of the Egg McMuffin and the McDouble and supposedly is an incredibly delicious creation. I decided to put it to the test.

I rolled up to my local McDonalds at 10:35 AM and asked the lady if they still had Egg McMuffins to be sold. She said yes, and my next question was if I could order off of the lunch menu yet. To my horror, she informed me that breakfast went until 11:00 AM during weekends. This represented the single time in my life where I was disgusted that McDonalds was still serving breakfast. Usually my experiences consist of me waking up late and arriving mere minutes after breakfast had ended. I decided to return home, collect my thoughts, and return at 11:05 AM.

At 11:05 AM, I decided to drive to a different McDonalds that is right down the street. How convenient. I ordered my Egg McMuffin and McDouble and was ready to go. I resisted my urge to add Bic Mac sauce. I guess the version you’re looking at is the Mc11:05, but I’m trying to be authentic here.

I got it home and began creating my sandwich. By creating, I mean I took the top bun off of the McDouble and replaced it with the Egg McMuffin minus the bottom muffin. I took the pickles off, because I didn’t see that fitting in to this equation. Easy creation, but completely magical.

My apologies for picture overload, but I felt that was the only way to do this thing justice. It was amazing. The egg and Canadian bacon went oh so perfectly with the McDouble. I urge you to try this combination out for yourself. Your stomach might hurt for about an hour, but it’s worth it.

Oh, last thing.. I ate this along with an additional Egg McMuffin, a hash brown, and a chili dog Stephanie brought home. I’m beginning to be disgusted by myself.

Below is the recipe for this portable heart attack. Thanks to The Consumerist and fark.com for the heads up.

1. Go to McD’s right when they are transitioning from breakfast to lunch.

2. Order one of the remaining Egg McMuffins from the breakfast menu and also order a McDouble since the lunch menu is now open.

3. Take the egg and Canadian bacon from the Egg McMuffin and put it on the McDouble.

I’d love it if John or one of our loyal readers would give this a try and get back to me.
