Dibella’s is a sandwich shop that has a few locations around the New York area, but the owner decided to build one in Ann Arbor. It also just happens to sit about 2 minutes from where I work. Every now and then I feel like completely sabotaging any chance of me getting any work done at all and order a Godfather sandwich from them. What is the Godfather, you ask?
Say hello to Genoa Salami, Capicola, Spicy Ham, Swiss and Provolone cheese, mayo, oil, and hot peppers. This translates to a beautiful 1600 calories, and 85 grams of fat. It also translates to one of the better sandwiches ever. Keep in mind you’re looking at one half of the actual sandwich.
Also, say hello to a man sandwich. This isn’t some Subway bullshit toasted five dollar foot long, this is a sandwich. It’s not a Manwich, either. That’s sloppy Joe’s. Come on.

Actually, it would be about 1/3rd of a sandwich if you ordered the 16″ Large size sandwich.
I live in Rochester, NY and there’s always a DiBella’s nearby (Wegmans grocery store uses the same recipes) and I love them. I think you’ve inspired me to grab one for lunch.
I’m in Buffalo, and they’re definitely the best subs. I’m loving seeing Wegmans and Dibellas expand nationally, and getting the Western New York area some recognition for its food. Now if only we can get Teds Hot Dogs and Duffs Wings to expand a little bit, those places are crazy awesome.
You know what’s dangerous? I used to live just about across the street from Dibella’s. My husband developed an obsession that continues on to this day. It’s the bread, I think. I introduced another coworker to it and he is also obsessed with the bread, and actually tried to get Dibella’s to sell him just bread (they would not). I’m a fan of the hot ham and cheese or meatball sub myself, although somewhat disappointed with the vegetarian options. Good stuff.
Aaaaaand now I’m hungry.
