The first time I experienced poutine was following a sail across lake Ontario. We docked in the midst of a squall for which I was sorely underdressed. However, after securing the boat I was welcomed into the creamy embrace of this Canadian siren…my taste buds argonauts ever scuttled on the rocks of Kingston.
Wow…between your picture and magnanmous’ poetry I feel I need to try this. Is there a local eating establishment you recommend?

I’ve been wanting to try this!!! Of course living in South Carolina that’ll be difficult… anyone know of an authetic recipe so I can attempt this at home??
Its fries, cheese curds and brown gravy. That is all it is. The fries must be hot, the curds must be squeeky and the gravy must be beef based.
Cheese curds can be made pretty easily at home. Do a quick Google or Youtube search for instructions.
You can usually find cheese curds at places like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods! Real homemade fries are best, but some frozen versions will suffice in a pinch. You can make this culinary orgasm at home with little-to-no actual cooking ability.
Best of luck trying to find places that serve authentic Poutine in the states though… had elk poutine in Chicago once… a chain called “Houlihans” serves something very similar to poutine called “Disco fries.” On that note, google search disco fries… I think you’ll find that they’re like the distant cousin of poutine in the southern US.
That succulent meal came from the province of Québec in Canada. I don’t know why that meal is not sell in USA. In Quebec, McDonald sell “poutine” in his restaurant. After an hangover, I personaly think is the best snack you can have. 😛

Alex, you can find it in some places around the US, mostly in the Northeast or in big cities. I’m from Montreal originally and I don’t know if you agree, but McDonald’s “poutine” really isn’t THAT bad. Surprisingly.
On the other hand, a lot of places just use St. Hubert’s mix anyway.
